Think out of the box to solve this riddle.
Imagine a cardboard circle lying flat on a cutting board.
What is the maximum number of pieces that can be obtained with 5 straight vertical cuts?
Here are the conditions that you need to follow;
- The pieces need not be equal in size.
- All the cuts should be perpendicular to the cutting board.
- You cannot slice the circle (i.e. cut it parallel to the cutting board)
- You cannot move or stack the pieces on one another.
