Samsung Galaxy S5 Unboxing, Review and Specifications

Samsung Galaxy S5 is now up for pre-orders in India. Customers can now book the phone by paying Rs.1,500 on the Samsung India online store to be among the first to receive the phone when it becomes available on April 11. Of course the exact price of the smartphone in India is not yet disclosed, but Samsung has announced it will be between Rs. 51,000 and Rs. 53,000.

The biggest new features being touted on the Samsung Galaxy S5 include a fingerprint scanner on the home button, a heart rate sensor placed near the 16-megapixel rear camera module, and the IP67 certification that makes it dust and water-resistant.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 being launched in India comes with the Adonis Prime2 (Quad 1.9GHz + Quad 1.3GHz) + XMM6360 octa-core chipset and 3G connectivity. The company says it may launch the 4G-variant once networks mature in India.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. It features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080×1920 pixel full-HD resolution. It comes with 2GB of RAM and will be available in India with 16GB storage option only, with microSD card expandability up to 64GB.

The Galaxy S5 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with HDR (for video as well), and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera can record UHD video @30 fps along with HDR and video stabilisation functionality.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO functionality, ANT+, Bluetooth 4.0, USB3.0, NFC, and Infrared remote functionality. It features a 2800mAh battery, rated to deliver 21 hours of talk time, and 390 hours of standby time. The smartphone weighs in at 145 grams, and has dimensions of 142×72.5×8.1mm.
